Kris Austin says, "Enough is Enough"
Finally, we have a politician who's willing to say it out loud - Enough is Enough!!! The Official Languages Act in New Brunswick has led to the extreme interpretation of "equality of service". The Language Commissioner is pushing the limit in demanding that service in French should be as instant and as widespread as service in English? WHY? The OLA has a caveat - "where numbers warrant" - why is that not interpreted in a reasonable manner? Why is there NO definition for this clause? In Quebec, municipalities with less than 50% English speakers don't get mandated service in English - why the double standard? Are French-speakers more important than English-speakers? What about a per capita formula where the percentage of employees or service is based on the number of people who speak that language in that municipality? Would that not make more sense instead of this irrational and very expensive demand for French-speakers to be served anywhere at any time in French and usually that is by another French-speaker?
So all you New Brunswickers - give more support to Kris Austin - he is fighting the good fight - he needs your support - NOW!!
